Cameron is the new kid in school who becomes smitten with the beautiful Bianca. But Bianca's overprotective and domineering father forbids Bianca to date unless her older sister Kat, an surly and hostile senior, does. In a bid to get Kat a boyfriend, Cameron sets up a plan to have the school stud, Joey Donnar, bribe Patrick Verona, an outcast senior with a rumor-filled past, to take Kat out on dates so he can go to the school's homecoming dance with Bianca. However, neither Patrick or Kat expect their relationship to lead to something so much more.

10 Things I Hate About You is an absolutely flawless teen movie from the 90’s which is based on Shakespeare's “The Taming of the Shrew.” It features Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) who is a strong, smart, feminist female lead as well as cute bad-boy Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) who wins her over with his undeniable charm and amazing singing skills. This movie is pure gold and can be watched a thousand times without getting old. The soundtrack is also so great, you’ll be singing along the whole time. 5/5 stars.

It's well acted, but somewhat cheesy plot. What elevates it beyond the other teen movies of the time was the performances. What I really appreciated was the commentary by the cast and crew which was not long after Heather Ledger's death. The commenatary was more interesting than the movie itself. Larissa Oleynik was great, but for some reason never really hit it big. It's only an above average movie, but is far superior than any of those crummy teen movies from the late 90s-early 2000s.

This update of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew is funny, sweet and one of my favorite teen movies. Released in 1999, it is in the same league as the teen movies John Hughes wrote in the '80s. This was Heath Ledger's American film debut. "F.N.T." by Minnesota's own Semisonic is featured in the film and on the soundtrack. I recommend 10 Things I Hate About You for teens and for adults of all ages who enjoy teen movies (I think it probably just means we are young at heart--that's what I'm going with). It is rated PG-13 for crude sex-related humor and dialogue, alcohol and drug-related scenes, all involving teens.

VERY GOOD 1999 full production 'teen' comedy movie. Times have changed since i was a teen, but I did find this film enjoyable on several levels and particularly enjoyed the period humor, etc. Fine writing, film production, and acting by everyone - fun to hear Heath Ledger's subdued Australian accent.

A delightful, humor-filled homage to Shakespeare, with many sexual jokes as the bard would've wanted.

Far from being Shakespeare Lite, this reimagining is fresh and retains most of the complexity of the original source material. It is NOT dumbed down, and the cast is very good.

A fun modern take on Taming Of The Shrew. Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger really own the film, making it memorable as the two leads, with a lot of chemistry between them.

10 Things I Hate About You is just bad. That is all. I'd give it no star but half a star is as low as you can go.
