Based on a 13th century European legend about a beautiful maiden, a stalwart knight and a pickpocket. The knight and the lady were once lovers, but the curse of the jealous Bishop of Aquila has fated them to be "always together, eternally apart". By day, she is a hawk; by night he is a wolf.

thank you public library for rekindling the nostalgia of watching ''Ladyhawke'' on HBO while drooling pudding pops onto my parents orange couch. This movie has a great cast of 80's actors in pleasant locations and cool (non-★-cgi) fight scenes. If my purple pot haze is flashing back correctly.. the Alan Parson's music was the ONLY aspect which kept this movie-★-gem on the dusty DVD shell at uncle Dave's house.

Similar 80's fantasy films:
''the Beastmaster''★ , ''Conan the Barbarian''★ , ''Excalibur''★ , ''Legend'' ,
''Sheena''★ , ''Dragonslayer'' , ''Red Sonja'' , ''Willow'' , ''the Dark Crystal''★ , ''Labyrinth'' ,
''the Lord of the Rings''★ , ''Fire and Ice'' , ''the Black Cauldron'' , ''Heavy Metal'' , ''the Last Unicorn'' .

According to ..
.. the original working title for ''Ladyhawke'' was ''LordWolf''.

An entertaining 80s film with a young Matthew Broderick sporting a weird sorta-British accent. A bit long with a typical 80s synth soundtrack, but a fun viewing nevertheless. I did want to hear Rutger Hauer say "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father" during the long sword fight at the end, but sadly that's a different film.

A formulaic fantasy of good vs. evil, the gorgeous visuals, a glowing Michelle Pfeiffer, young Mathew Broderick, and Rutger Hauer at his peak, makes this a very enjoyable movie despite the bad 80’s soundtrack.

I watched this movie because I listened to the audio book of Ready Player One. It's an 80's film so music, cast, and locations were all pretty good and entertaining. I though the movie was a little long (like most 80's movies). Overall, not one of my favorites. I hate being an adult and over-analyzing everything I watch. I never saw this as a kid so I don't have an attachment.

Beautiful movie ~

I saw this as a kid in the 80s, so despite its shortcomings (namely Alan Parsons's cheestastic score), I have a soft spot for it. Good cast, nice locations and some cool fights. Would make a good film series with other 80s fantasy movies: "Willow," "The Dark Crystal," "Labyrinth," "The Black Cauldron," "Legend," "Dragonslayer," "The Last Unicorn." Originally it was going to be called "Lordwolf."

Beautiful. Gorgeous movie from the (80s?). The music's a little cheesy, perhaps to some...but I dont mind it. It's a classic. It is not tedious or dull at all, as someone has said here (in my opinion). The ending is incredibly epic and satisfying. What someone may call 'tedious' is probably actually the character development that takes place, which I thoroughly enjoy.

A friend introduced me to this movie in college and I really loved it. It reminded me of medival tales such as Bisclavret (

I like the idea of the plot they have going, but I wouldn't watch this again. Way too tedious for me.

This movie has not aged well. The synthesizer music is definitely 80s and the script wasn't all that captivating.
