My son and I enjoyed learning about the true story twin polar bear cubs that were raised in a zoo by people (after mother bear rejected them). Many photographs show the development and growth of these two polar bear cubs. As for the math and fractions involved, it is minimal. We enjoyed it as a story, but as a math book, I would not recommend it.
