Discovering that ex-CIA tech wizard and political assassin Teddy Fay is still alive, agent Holly Barker joins an elite task force assigned to track him and becomes suspicious in the wake of a series of insider tricks, a case that escalates into a high-speed chase throughout New York City. By the author of Blood Orchid. 225,000 first printing.

Holly Barker, the sexy, no-nonsense former police chief from Orchid Beach, Florida, has been known to crack cases that even the FBI couldn't break. Now Lance Cabot, whom readers will remember from The Short Forever, makes Holly an offer she can't refuse: to join an elite intelligence unit hunting down terrorists on American soil. Their first prey, however, may turn out to be all-American.
Teddy Fay, the ex-CIA technology wizard introduced in Capital Crimes, apparently blew up his own airplane while being hotly pursued by the FBI and U.S. Navy pilots. But now a series of attacks on a new kind of victim - terrorists with diplomatic immunity - makes some in the government, up to and including the president of the United States, believe Teddy may be back. And Holly finds herself in the thick of the hunt.

Big disappointment. The pace is as slow as cold molasses. I disliked the beginning with Holly's deception and hated the conclusion. Bad enough to turn me away from this character.

Of the Holly B. series this one is one of
the more enjoyable reads. Set in New York. Can you believe Holly didn't
have sex? IT 's still four stars.

A really great read! Lots of fieldcraft! The Teddy Fay character is especially interesting; it's like he's the perfect agent.( Then again he should be as he worked for the CIA for more than 40 years!) I also like Daisy and Ham. One of the author's better books.

Truly dreadful. Ridiculous plot. Stupid characters. Irritating dialogue. And pointless filler between. Interesting in that it shows how horrible a book can be and still get put on paper.

Fairly good book. A little too far out but a good read
