After a hit-and-run leaves Eddie, a young techie, in the hospital, his grandmother hires Turing's PI friend Tim to find out who did it. The grandmother thinks the collision had something to do with Eddie's business, which he runs out of their computer-filled basement. But before Tim and Turing can investigate Eddie's business, they have to figure out what it is. While Turing tries to break into Eddie's computers - without leaving tell-tale clues - Maude scours the paper-cluttered basement for information and Tim interrogates the reclusive techie's few friends.
A little investigation reveals that Eddie lets his scummy friends use his subterranean computers anytime they like. Some are running highly unsavory websites, while others may be using legitimate-looking spam to con people out of their credit card numbers. Nothing Turing and company can't handle, though.
Until the feds show up, looking for a dangerous online vigilante who's also using Eddie's computers, leaving Turing and her friends caught in the middle. They can't let the vigilante continue - but they can't tell the FBI everything they know without revealing Turing's identity to the world. So they become vigilantes themselves, hoping to make sure the original vigilante has logged in for the last time. And what started as a simple hit-and-run becomes a deadly game of computer-and-mouse.
