I found it difficult to pin down just what her profession was: prostitute or brothel owner?
On the whole its well done - you can't tell its a play except by the writing (character development, conflicts, plot development) . I was annoyed by the overuse of cutbacks.

Love Coral Browne - enjoyable if you like Shaw and dated productions

George Bernard Shaw, before he discovered the Superman, and IMHO, all the better for it. Mrs. Warren's Profession is a play well ahead of its time, and in some ways, its themes of prostitution, capitalism, and the independence of women are still ahead, although we have become more skilled in ignoring them. People looking for Downton Abbey romance should probably leave it alone, but otherwise, this is a stimulating two hours with iconic characters of the 20th century. Coral Browne is magnificent, decadent, and unmissable.

Penelope Wilton, very young, is now Mrs Crowley in Downton Abbey.
