Good grief. If you’re looking for the National Enquirer version of a history book, look no further. I mean that with all due respect to the author. This book gets down and dirty to expose all sorts of sordid little details. Insanity, inbreeding, incest, and incivility are just the tip of the iceberg. With rulers like these, it’s a wonder that any of the countries mentioned survived to modern times.
