As a created representative from old cinema, this movie represents some of the finest available in the same group as Casa Blanca, Bill Budd, Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden and a few more, in my humble opinion. Before Hollywood got its grips on Pirates and made them popular, Treasure Island showed us a Stevenson story close to what he wrote about and this is a smooth merging of both writer and screen.

An oldie but a good one.

More murder and alcoholism than in the more modern versions.
