Excellent, Inspiring & beautiful. Truly testifies to the goodness & evil mankind is capable of - we choose which side we will follow. The dedication & sacrifices of the main character, William Wilberforce, to fight against slavery is so powerful. Your heart & conscience will be moved to appreciate our freedom & help people who are still suffering today. Sadly human trafficking still exists today...

Very good film. A subject we rarely hear about in this day and age. The desperation one man and his fellow helpers did to change the law took a long time but the movie shows it will great compassion and strength. A great film and also wonderful faith based story.

This is how slavery was defeated in England without a civil war. The people could see how terrible slavery was and its inhumanity to man. The true story is very well done and acted. Too bad we could not move against slavery in the same way.

just as I was reading Island under the sea, about the same subject. I came upon Amazing Grace and what drew me to it was mainly the principal actor who is my favourite british actor Ioan Grufford , but as it turned out the movie was terrific. added to my knowledge of the slave trade. William Wilberforce was a great man, and fought a long battle against slavery, though he had never been there in person and cared so much nevertheless. I also learned about the author of the Hymn Amazing Grace.
Do not miss viewing this little pearl.

Inspiring movie about William Wiberforce who fought to end the slave trade in England 18th Century. He is backed up the his church and thus we have the song "Amazing Grace". It is a wonderful story which few of us knew about. A great movie with a great cast on top of it.

Amazing Grace is a 2006 biographical drama film directed by Michael Apted, about the campaign against slave trade in the British Empire, led by William Wilberforce, who was responsible for steering anti-slave trade legislation through the British parliament. The title is a reference to the hymn "Amazing Grace". The film also recounts the experiences of John Newton as a crewman on a slave ship and subsequent religious conversion, which inspired his writing of the poem later used in the hymn. Newton is portrayed as a major influence on Wilberforce and the abolition movement.

The film premiered on 16 September 2006 at the Toronto Film Festival, followed by showings at the Heartland Film Festival, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and the European Film Market, before opening in wide U.S. release on 23 February 2007,[2] which coincided with the 200th anniversary of the date the British parliament voted to ban the slave trade.
