This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

I partially agree with the previous reviewer's comment regarding Harrison Ford's character's mixture of gullibility and bravado. What I found interesting about this film, however, was how in the beginning, around the time of Harrison's shower scene, you do feel the growing tension. The tension doesn't quite seem to peak at the highest point but instead reaches a suitable level to keep your interest and then continues on from there. Even though the tension stays stagnant for quite some time, I still found myself wanting to see everything to its completion. The ending felt flat to me, however.

The main character is a famous American surgeon visiting Paris to present a paper at an international medical convention. When confronted by mysterious events in the movie, he exhibits a mixture of gullibility and bravado that is more characteristic of a young tradesman than a mature surgeon. Although the pace is good at conveying the frantic nature of his responses, he is oddly able to focus his attention in following a complicated plot within a very short period of time in unfamiliar surroundings where he does not speak the language. For me, the movie lacked pathos and I was unable to sympathize with the travails of the characters. I was surprizingly unaffected by this movie.
