A six-part BBC mini-series, filmed in Austria, New York and London. This series examines Freud's complex life, his groundbreaking work and his relationship with his patients. Special features include a newly filmed interview with David Suchet and a gallery of Suchet's personal Freud archive including production photos, press clippings, etc.
Very well done. But pre-supposes a basic background in Siggie's vast intellectual contribution. Some sort of a 'Monarch Review Notes' about Freud's work would have been most helpful. What are "bonus extras" for ?
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and sometimes Freud came on to almost everyone he knew, or they came on to him. As to whether anything happened, David "Fainting Couch" Suchet lets you decide. It goes all psychedelic in the last episode, mirroring Freud's mental deterioration near the end of his life, I guess.
Good series about the life of Freud, his marriage, children and friends.. I feel I can now understand how he came to certain theories..Warm movie.. slow at times.. and confusing at other times.. It goes back and forth in his life, as he remembers. It has a lot of potential..While I have learned a lot, I feel I cannot give this series high marks. I feel it could have been done better.
