Virals is about a girl named story who recently moved in with her dad after her mother died. Her dad works on loggerhead island so she is able to go to a private school with other friends with parents working at the same research facility as her dad. Tory is obsessed with dogs, and so they visit the island often to see the wolfdogs. But the pick has been circling the research facility and howling. When they sneak in one night to clean off dog tags they found, they sneak into a closed off lab to find Coop, a wolfdog pup in a contained area. They take him back to their bunker and try to cure him but they then go back to the island and discover the bones of Katherine Heaton, a girl who had been murdered. The mystery of her murder was never solved but when they tell the police, the night after they dug up the bones and were forced to run a way when people came into the woods to shoot at them, the bones are switched for monkey bones and no one believes them. They begin a journey of trying to solve the murder and trying to sort out why they kept getting sick and then having flares where they had heightened senses. This book is filled with mystery and you never know what is going to happen or who is going to turn on each other. I would rate this book 5/5 because it has an interesting concept as well as amazing characters. @skybooks of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

While I'd argue that the kids were a wee bit too smart, I loved Reichs' new series. The writing and suspense of her first series combined with the drama of YA made for an exciting new book that left me eager to dive into her next novel.

Narrator's voice didn't seem to fit the character, too young. Some parts that were supposed to be funny came off as mean. Some of the surprise twists didn't really make sense. But science is cool!
