If you can struggle through the bloated writing and content of the first 200 pages the final scenes are an interesting wind up. The ersatz child psychology on helping a child to deal with dying mother infuriated me. Even the scene where mother was in hospice and the new step dad leaves the room as though he lost out a power struggle with the psychologist was so bad. And they don't do CPR when someone is in 'hospice' FGS. So if you are going to throw in a diversionary sub plot at least do some research on professional protocols.
As for the main story, it was a slog.

Far from his best work but still a good read.

For a book that makes fun of CSI, the ending seemed straight out of an he had 5 minutes till the credits rolled, and had to wrap things up. All that was missing was Horatio with his sunglasses.

The usual Alex and Milo story - if you've read one, you're read them all. Kellerman needs to shake up his style - it is always the two main characters sitting around theorizing about what might have happened, and then gradually filling in the blanks. There are 200 sentences that start with "Maybe...."

I can't say I enjoyed this as much as previous novels by this Author.

Somewhat disappointing and needlessly complicated. Not Kellerman's best.

Alex and Milo venture again into the dark side of L.A. Another great read.
