isaachar already wrote a very good comment and I have something more to add. As you can see by comparing the ratings of isaachar and myself versus the average rating that all voting members of the library have given to season two of this TV series, both isaachar and myself liked season two more than the average voting member of the library. Do you want to appreciate this TV series as much as I did? You should definitely watch season one first before watching season two. Otherwise, you won't appreciate the story as much. Moreover, if you "rewind" and replay each episode, you will notice more details. Or perhaps you prefer to deceive yourself about your ability to notice all the details during the initial viewing. These episodes are not what you are used to. This TV series was created by clever people and talented actors / actresses (e.g. Lou Diamond Phillips is a talented actor). But if you don't want to give due diligence towards viewing these episodes, you won't notice what you are missing. You will watch TV without seeing.

SGU definitely found its stride in season 2. Sadly it was too late, and its ratings decline resulted in the network to canceling it. Worst, it ended in a pretty serious cliffhanger, which is a bad place to end the 14 year run of Stargate television shows. This season introduced a lot of interesting concepts that it had no time to close. An advanced civilization of extra galactic humans descended from the crew due to a time travel mishap. A religious cold war among their two factions that originated in a petty disagreement between the original crew's time-lost survivors. Intelligent war drones they created and left active after their war ended, continuing their mission against any advanced technology they come across. They could have created an entire show on those concepts alone. SG fans wanted another Stargate movie to wrap things up, but it looks like a reboot is more likely to happen. At the very least, fans can admit the show went out with a bang (but with a cliffhanger).
