Sometimes at night, I wake up and stare at the heart for hours. I think of how I collected each piece from the beach, how I glued it all together into one big sculpture. I wonder if Connor realizes what it means, that he'll always have a piece of me no matter what happens. Each piece of glass is another piece of myself that I gave to him. It's too bad I didn't keep any pieces for myself. At the beginning of senior year, Ann was a smiling, straight-A student and track star with friends and a future. Then she met a haunted young man named Connor. Only she can heal his emotional scars; only he could make her feel so loved - and needed. Ann can't recall the pivotal moment it all changed, when she surrendered everything to be with him, but by graduation, her life has become a dangerous high wire act. Just one mistake could trigger Connor's rage, a senseless storm of cruel words and violence damaging everything - and everyone - in its path...

This book was written so well and it is incredibly accurate to what it's like to actually be in an abusive relationship. The way that the author wrote it, starting with the end and writing back to the beginning, helps readers look at the situation in a new light that makes the situation easier to understand for someone who has never experienced it. It's a very quick read, but a good one.

One of the most beautiful books I've ever read, I've had to think about how this one made me feel. It helped me see abusing relationships in a whole new light and I really loved how she wrote it in reverse chronological order, changing the perspective of the story and of the characters. Connor's story and how Amanda told it made me realize that nothing happens for no reason and people can become very, very different. And Ann let me see that sometimes we feel we don't have choices and that it wasn't her fault she ended up in the situation she did. As shown in the very last paragraph of the book, one little thing, one tiny moment, can change everything.

I finished this book pretty quickly, it was okay. Not the best thing I've ever read though...
