Overall worth the read. A very sad book, so prepare yourself. I was very frustrated with the ending, which I suppose was smart on her part because it leaves me wanting to read the sequel.

Janelle Tenner is 17-years old and died two days before the start of her junior year. But only for a minute. She was hit by a pickup truck and run over. Her life flashed before her eyes. Literally. And then she saw a kid from her school, Ben Michaels, reviving her. Janelle must solve the mystery of her death and revival. Shed learns that Ben can actually manipulate molecules. HE healed her. As sparks fly between them, Alex, her best friend, becomes jealous. Later, when her dad leaves to investigate a new case for the FBI, Struz brings her the news that his body was found in the canyon. her dad is dead and Janelle,Ben, and Alex are determined to find out who did it and why.

I agree that it was overkill to remove Alex from the story at the end of it all. How many disasters does a girl need in her life, how many people does she have to lose. Couldn't he have died in the next book. Aside that, loved the countdown, the unravelling mystery, and the open ending to the book (despite the massive disaster).

I must admit, this book is a very eye-catching thriller (Had to finish the book in one setting; quite unable to put down once started), but I was quite disappointed in the amount of sci-fi is contained. The author barely squeezed in an miniscule amount of sci-fi (the multiverse/ alterate universe/ wormholes portion); unfortunately a huge chunk of the book was spent over Janelle's internal and external crises with her family and school issues. And the romance portion in the book seemed a bit rushed to me- I mean, Janelle didn't even realize Ben even existed in her world, and after Ben saves the "damsel in distress" by bringing her back to life- POOF Janelle falls in love?! In addition, there were two deaths toward the end of this book that was not overly pleasing (spoiler alert: Alex and Janelle's father dies) Considering that Alex was the best foil character in the entire book, I do not applaud E. Norris' move by killing him off. However, she does leave a nice almost cliffhanger at the end- more room for a sequel perhaps? Overall, this book is worth a try.

This was a pretty good book, though kind of creepy with the alternate universes and everything ... but a good read if you want to read a sci-fi thriller for a change :) It was also quite emotional, so it was a good mix of action and romance ;) So sad at the end though... it did leave it open though. I'm excited for Elizabeth Norris' next book! :D
