As a longtime admirer of Ms. Wilson and her work, ir pains me to type just how desperately awful this flaccid & lifeless 2012 CD turns out to be. It boasts not a single memorable song or moment. Her voice sounds tired, the arrangements have no hooks, no magic, no sparkle, no sense of urgency, and NO grandeur. It took a quarter-century for her to implode; perhaps Whitney Balliett was right about Cassandra Wilson after all. Will she ever again record anything as inspired as Traveling Miles or Blue Light til Dawn? Based on the empty, burnt-out trash that constitutes the mindlessly named Another Country, I should say not.
