This beautifully hand-drawn caper set in the shadow-drenched alleyways of Paris follows the incredible adventures of Dino, a precocious pet cat that leads a double life. By day he lives with Zoe, a little mute girl whose mother, Jeanne, is a detective in the Parisian police force. But at night he sneaks out the window to work with Nico - a slinky cat burglar with a big heart, whose fluid movements are poetry in motion - as he evades captors and slips and swishes from rooftop to rooftop across the Paris skyline. The cat's two worlds collide when young Zoe decides to follow Dino on his nocturnal adventures - and falls into the hands of Victor Costa, a blustery gangster planning the theft of a rare statue. Now cat and cat burglar must team up to save Zoe from the bumbling thieves, leading to a thrilling acrobatic finale on top of Notre Dame. A Cat in Paris is a warm and richly humorous love letter to classic noir films and the stylized wit of the Pink Panther cartoons - and Dino, the literal cat burglar, manages to steal the show with little more than a subtle swish of the tail and quiet meow.

Simple art and story finds a child getting mixed up with some gangsters in Paris. Its for animation geeks, its short so its not too bad for a viewing.

This movie is more for geeks who love animation movies. I really enjoyed it and it's simplistic art work. The storyline was kind of strange. I wouldn't recommend it because of the bad guys kidnapping the little girl, then the bad guy going totally nuts at the end and falling to his death. Guess I'm an animation geek.

An Oscar nominee, this delightful animated adventure revolves around a little girl and her duplicitous pet cat who unwittingly cross paths with a criminal madman and his posse of bumbling thieves. Resolutely mute ever since her father was killed, Zoe lives in a comfortable Parisian apartment with her senior police investigator mother, her doting nanny, and Dino her big loveable feline companion. But Dino is not quite the lazy kitty he appears to be for when the sun sets he sneaks out of Zoe’s window and joins forces with Nico, a kind-hearted and strangely lithe cat burglar (haha!) whose been relieving Paris’ wealthier residents of their unwanted jewellery. Isolated both psychologically and emotionally (her mother is too involved with catching the evil gangster who murdered her husband to pay more than a passing attention to her silent daughter’s needs) Zoe follows Dino on one of his nightly rendezvous, meets up with a somewhat flustered Nico, and accidentally eavesdrops on the wicked thug Victor Costa as he plans the biggest heist of his career. What follows is a nicely imagined children’s story with kidnappings, daring rescues, and the kind of mild menace which always ends happily. Graced with bright cartoon energy and a jazzy musical score, A Cat in Paris has a wonderful retro look to its primitive animation—-picture Mike Judge studying under Picasso. A nice way to spend 70 minutes with the kiddies, and guaranteed not to cause nightmares.

Well, I did not read the reviews on this movie and I let me 4 year old watch the movie. It is NOT suitable for young children!!!! Due to the story line and contents.

A sweet but unremarkable story, with rather unimpressive animation. Not terrible, but you're not missing much here.

Fair – A Cat in Paris, A (2010) 70 min. [Animated] [Foreign French] The version available on DVD at OPL is the dubbed English version of this sweet but ordinary animated film about a cat burglar and what else…a cat. The animation is nouveau art and some of the scenes are clever. However, the film is not recommended for children – there’s a scene of a giant man with a….um….let’s put it this way – he’s not a eunuch. Cute film but forgettable.

Rated PG. Not for very young children because of crime and kidnapping issues. Watched it with my 9yr old and he got somewhat bored with it, so I ended up watching the end on my own. At least it had a happy ending!
