If watching endless repetitive scenes of a headless horseman gallop and behead people is enough to entertain you, this could be a film for you. The theme of a city policeman wanting to use science and reason to bring hope and justice to superstitious folks is a big mess and never really goes anywhere.

This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining.

One of my favourite Burton films. The screenplay loosely adapts the Washington Irving story, recasting Ichabod Crane as a detective at the close of the eighteenth century, sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate killings. The film bears Burton's signature style, highly welcome given the subject matter. Depp plays Crane as high strung and nervous, another in his long line of eccentric characters, a quality he's so good at. Depp is well matched with Christina Ricci as a love interest with her own interests in the supernatural. Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, Michael Gough, Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid, Martin Landau, Christopher Lee, and more make up the supporting cast, most of whom are ideally cast and good actors. The one exception to that: Casper Van Dien, a poor excuse for an actor whose character is an oaf and dullard anyway... so in a way, it's not that much of a stretch for him.

The first Tim Burton movie I watched and is one of my favs. The characters are great, plot is interesting to follow and scenes look fantastic. Greatly enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this film. The horseman looks a little like Christopher Walken.

Another Tim Burton classic.

Great movie, full of excitement, with many different twists. I loved all the character's, and the acting was terrific. Tim Burton did a wonderful job with this movie, I highly recommend checking it out.

Excellent Hallowe'en viewing, based on the novel by Washington Irving. Good story, good cast, and exceptional visuals, owing to the inventive Gothic stylings of director Tim Burton. Unfortunately, not available in OPL's collection.

The cruse of the headless horseman is the legacy of the small town of Sleepy Hollow. Spearheaded by the eager Constable Ichabod Crane and his new world ways into the quagmire of secrets and murder, secrets once laid to rest, best forgotten and now reawakened, and he too, holding a dark secret of a past once gone.
