A well written, fast paced and terrifying medical thriller that builds in intensity right to the conclusion. The inside view of the mind and thoughts of the killer surgeon add to the fear and suspense of the novel. The epilogue was a great way to end the novel.
There is good character development mainly with the gutsy, tough cop Jane Rizzoli who certainly has her issues in her male dominated career. I enjoyed Dr. Catharine Cordell and Thomas More, Rizzolis' partner.
The descriptions are authentic and realistic and perhaps a bit too graphic but do add to the realism of the Surgeon and his killings. The multiple viewpoints give the novel a deeper dimension. Overall a satisfying and good read.

What happened to Isles? Rizzoli looking a bit unsympathetic. Author tired of these characters?
Story line a bit on the hackneyed side, but a good enough read.

Too much blood and gore and too many medical terms. I stopped after 50 pages.

This book was exactly what I was looking for in a good summer read. It kept me engaged and eager to read all the way to the end. Pretty easy read as well..shouldn't take more than a solid day or two at the beach to finish! Super creepy, and I enjoyed the medical aspects of the book.

Thriller about a serial killer and the woman he tortures. Expected more but was disappointed.

A medical mystery page turner. I had to suspend disbelief several times: detective falling in love with victim on first sight; badly maimed victim shooting to kill; detective working a hot trail all alone, etc. The author lets us know about half way through who among the limited characters the real killer is. She then fills her plot with references to Greek mythology to show that women have been sacrificed by men since the ages, of course, to appease the gods, hoping that the reader will see some connection to her story. Another filler that can be scanned over quickly are the numerous surgical details in the corner's reports. IMO, some flaws, but a good read. First mystery book I have read where the main character, the lead detective, Rizzoli, plays such a minor role. She is not liked by other characters, struggles to make herself "heard", and is constantly fighting for control of "her" case. All this friction among colleagues! What a tough life a female detective has!
