Baker Publishing Group
Standing in the massive shadow of his famous father, young king Solomon wavers between fear and bravado, wisdom and folly. In the uncertain world of alliances and treachery, Solomon longs for peace and a love that is true and pure--a love that can be his cornerstone.A shepherdess in the northern city of Shunem, Arielah remembers the first time she laid eyes on Solomon in Jerusalem when she was just seven years old. Since then she has known that it was her destiny to become his bride. When her father, a leader of their tribe, secures a promise from King Solomon to marry Arielah as a treaty bride to help unite the kingdom, it seems her dreams may come true. But how can this simple shepherdess live as part of Solomon's harem? Can Solomon set aside his distractions to give himself completely to just one woman? Or will he let duty, deception, and the daily routine divide his heart?Mesu Andrews expertly weaves the words of the Song of Solomon into this touching story of the power of love. Readers will be transported from the glowing fields of Shunem to the gleaming city of Jerusalem as they experience this rich and textured novel from a master storyteller.
For young King Solomon, wisdom came as God's gift, but sacred love was forged through passion's fire.

One of my favourite authors, hands down. Mesu brings those obscure and often questionable and hard to fathom Biblical stories to life, giving them context, character and meaning.

In this story, Mesu writes a very plausible story line to the Song of Songs and puts it into context - a love story between King Solomon and Arielah. My emotions were definitely engaged in this story and when I learned that Arielah dies, I wanted to scream, "No!!!!" Made me think how different Solomon's latter days would have been if his true love (according to this story) had lived. Would his heart have stayed true to worshiping only Yahweh as advised by his abba King David and guided by Arielah?

I always get immersed in Mesu's books and would recommend them for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of Biblical facts and culture that sometimes is hard to comprehend in our generation.

How about a round of Applause for Mesu Andrews. The authors delivers a compelling and convincing context to the very passionate love story of Solomon and his "loved-Bride" (as per Songs of Songs) It is recorded that Solomon had many wives some of which were political decisions. However, Songs of Songs contains dialogue that gives evidence that he loved a woman with a fiery, unquenchable desire. Readers and believers, Andrews's retelling mirrored with the shepherds verses personifies what love is and what it should be. One should settle for nothing less than To love thoroughly and be loved in return , (as reflected in Christ's love for the church)
