My five and a half year old granddaugher LOVES this book and asks me to read it over and over again.
Poor Sneaker the snake lives in a pet store and desperately wants a home. Although many people are afraid of Sneaker, a boy named Pete appreciates him - and adopts him. And then Sneaker's life takes an interesting turn when he lives up to his name, sneaks into Pete's backpack, and tags along with Pete to school. While it isn't realistic (Sneaker learns to read and write and becomes a hero at the local swimming pool), this cartoon-illustrated easy reader is, like Sneaker himself, an awful lot of fun. For another silly book featuring an educated reptile, check out Randy Siegel's My Snake Blake.
