2/17/2016 - After having read as much of this dreck as I could stomach, it becomes obvious that Mr. Carson is not versed at all in history, economics or any other topic he insults by addressing in this book. Strictly opinion, fantasy and wish fulfillment.

Although I disagree with user sdgread, he does have some interesting thoughts in his comment. The tooting his own horn comment I can almost concur with. I can agree with just about every comment on this book so far.

This is a wonderful thought provoking book. If Dr. Carson were running for president I would have to give consideration to voting for him.

He is obviously an accomplished individual to be admired for all he has achieved. However, he toots his horn a bit too much for my taste. He would be better off for someone to write his biography. I also got a bit tired about "my friend the millionaire this, and my friend the very successful billionaire that . . ." His ideas about what is great about America are right on, but some of his proposed solutions are naive and half-baked. As a successful immigrant myself, I am thankful to have become an American. But the book unfortunately strikes me too much as self-propaganda published by an Evangelical publisher (which Zondervan Publisher is) to preach God's word.

Dr. Carson is refreshing. I do hope we can bring America around to the great country it can be once again.

EXCELLENT! A great read for all Americans!

An absolute must-read in a time when we completely lost from view what the Founding Fathers intended this country to be. Dr. Carson is a brilliant man, his arguments are full of common-sense and logic—qualities we have also lost in modern discourse. His personal history and character remind me a lot of one of my favorite authors (also a Black man), Dr. Walter E. Williams. Dr. Carson is a neurosurgeon; he is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and was recognized by President George W. Bush with the “Presidential Medal of Freedom” in 2008.

Should be read by all Americans. This book is a quick read and gives the reader lots to think about. It would also be a great choice for a book club discussion.
