I am happily omnivorous, but I find I struggle with planning meatless meals. This really came to a head when I signed up for a Harvest Box from a local farm a couple of summers ago, and I was drowning in vegetables that I didn't know how to prepare. I picked up Meatless because it seemed unintimidating and because I've had good luck with Martha Stewart recipes in the past, and it quickly became a go-to cookbook for me. This book helped me conquer my fear of risotto, it got me using my immersion blender, and ensured that none of those beautiful local veggies went to waste. I've also written all over my copy with small changes to spice amounts and portion suggestions - don't tell Martha.

I have made the Ratatouille twice now (the second time was a double batch) to rave reviews and recipe requests from omnivores. Amazing flavors. Beautiful photos, Last night made Martha Stewart's Curried Butternut Squash Soup (garden harvest is in full swing) and it could be served in a five star restaurant. Don't recall if the recipe came from Meatless or from Martha's online website. I know I'll be trying many more of this book's recipes.

nice-looking book with a picture for every recipe but no recipes that really appealed to me. Many recipes included squash (not a favourite for my family) and ingredients I haven't tried before (tempeh & seitan). And a few others required two days preparation (make sauce day one, complete recipe day two) that weren't practical for me.

Some really good looking recipes that seem easy and affordable.
