I really, really enjoyed this and I haven't even read the first book. I was a little confused in the beginning but I was okay with that and honestly it made the intrigue a lot better being partly in the dark!

Tori is being hunted. She's survived kidnapping but the people interested in her weird DNA and technological affinity are keen to get their hands on here again. She and her parents change their names and flee from Sudbury to Kitchener (can I just say I love the Canadianness of this book at points? Makes me happy). There she works hard to keep safe and not draw attention to herself. Of course, this doesn't last long.

Tori is a fantastic character. She's well rounded but also has her flaws and challenges. I really enjoyed reading about her and was really rooting for her. The sci-fi plot was also fantastic and was so tight and compelling. The writing style was much the same - like it knew time was of the essence and had to communicate information quickly.

I love Tori for another reason that I won't say but she's the first character of this type I've read and I'm very, very thankful for it.

Whether you've read the first book or not (I'm certainly going to double back) if you like good sci-fi and a really compelling heroine this is the book for you.

I was skeptical about reading the book seeing as how the first took an unexpected turn to aliens. But honestly this one was just as good. The ending was odd. Not sure I really needed to read her cutting off her arm.

This book was truly amazing. It was a bit confusing at the end, but other than that, I would not change a thing!!
