This thriller is creepy and scary and the children actors have been acted very well. It is a good movie except some points did not explained clearly at the end.

Oh. This was an ok movie. Nothing really new, but we got to see the creepy dead Mom floating around more than usual.

Good scary movie, good opening, not a good ending, but i would still recommend it as a good scary movie.

Some clichés and a confusing ending are made up for by solid acting and good scares. Overall Mama is one of the better PG-13 horror films out there.

Using a palette of wintry colours and lighting effects which rarely go beyond twilight, director Andrés Muschietti’s ghostly shocker certainly doesn’t lack for style. Furthermore, executive producer Guillermo del Toro’s fascination with the dark fairytale world of children is evident throughout starting with an opening montage of disturbing crayon scribblings and the words “Once upon a time…” But the film’s many jolts become predictable after a while—all those jerking silhouettes and fluttering moths reduced to so much gimmicky filler and his fiend little more than an extra crispy Barbie with waving hair and a few extra joints. When Muschietti finally ends this overly long exercise in generic frights he not only destroys any sense of mystique, he also veers full on into cloying Tim Burton territory with moonlight, menace, and a choir straining to keep the mood going. And more stupid moths.

Yes, its the 'typical' horror movie but it was creepy & scary. Excellent acting by the children. The end is the typical though, disappointed me, hence the lost star.

A ghost story with a real ghost, and good acting by a couple of child actors. And yes, there are attempts to get you jump off your seat too. Overall it is a decent horror film. Watchable for sure.

“Mama” begins with sisters Victoria and Lilly and their father in a car that careens off a snowy road and into a forest. Their father (who is on the run from the police for murdering the girls’ mother) takes the sisters to a remote cabin in the forest and involuntarily abandons them there. The girls spend the next five years in isolation, being raised by an ominous creature they refer to as ‘Mama’. Eventually the girls are found by their Uncle Lucas, and when they move in with him and his girlfriend Annabelle, things begin to quickly escalate.

“Mama” is based off of the Argentinian short film “Mamá”, and “Mama” falls into the unique category of ‘heartwarming horror movie’. This film is absolutely brilliant, and is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats the whole time. The plot is a perfect blend of scary and endearing, as it seamlessly mixes jump-scares and horror with familial bonding moments. The characters are all likeable, and Mama is unlike other horror movie monsters (e.g. she actually does want to be a good person, she’s just doomed to repeat her own history). Each actor and actress shines in their role, and they all help “Mama” feel as though viewers are watching real-life events unfold before them.

Overall, the author of this review highly recommends “Mama”. It’s a lovely horror film that delivers both scary and warm-hearted moments. Due to the subject matter in this film, viewers should know that it contains trigger warnings for abuse, abandonment, and supernatural elements. The author of this review believes “Mama” to be suitable for ages thirteen and up.
