This cute, 1945 Comedy/Western/Romance (which contains some cross-dressing) has the rugged Robert Mitchum getting his butt kicked, literally, and cowboys cuddling up at night in order to keep warm while sleeping out in the cold Texas desert._____ Set in the year 1887, Pecos Smith (played by the 28 year-old Mitchum) and his loyal sidekick, Chito Rafferty, come to the aid of Rill Lambeth and her amiable father whose over-loaded wagon has broken down (with the horses running off) in the middle of the desolate Texas wastelands._____ Filmed in b&w, this light-weight Western contains some very beautiful scenes which were shot in the Alabama Hills of sunny California._____ Based on the Zane Grey novel of the same name, this often amusing story has a brisk running time of only 66 minutes.
