I found this documentary to be an engaging, thought-provoking look at the family life of Victoria and Albert and their children. Through their own words as archived in letters and other documents, we are given a good sense of what their relationship was like, and how their own troubled childhoods colored their views on parenthood. We see how each of their nine children are impacted by their place in the family order, differing parental expectations and practices, and how they all ultimately rebel in one way or another from their needy mother's self-serving attempts to manipulate them to suit her wishes. Illustrated lavishly with beautiful scenes from Windsor Castle, Osborne House, and other pivotal locations.

Well done and interesting documentary about Queen Victoria who ruled her children and loved her husband. I learned much about her children and their marriages with German and Prussian royalty. I highly recommend this documentary.

Interesting show about Queen Victoria's children and their difficult lives as children of a queen. One of the issues I have with this show, though, is that in one of the episodes, all of the scholars that are interviewed annoyingly focus so heavily on the fact that Victoria didn't want to breastfeed her children. Um, why would that make her a neglectful, cruel mother? Anyway, the show as a whole is very enlightening about Victoria's unbelievably controlling personality, which was clearly displayed in her relations with her children.
