Like other one skein wonder books, this has a variety of patterns using a variety of weights of yarn.

I am a hand spinner and really like the 'One-skein' project books, since it means I don't have to spin 1000s of yards of yarn before I can actually make something. However, I do have a couple of issues with this particular book in the series. One is that most of the projects are for advanced knitters, which I am not.

The bigger problem, though, is that while the book lists which brand of yarn you will need for each project, it does not give the gauges of the various yarns. If I want to use my own yarn or if the yarn store doesn't carry the precise brand of yarn recommended by the book (and what if a particular yarn she recommends goes out of production?), I have to either guess the yarn's gauge or waste time online trying to figure out what yarn to use or spin.

This is a really useful book for those who enjoy lace knitting. When gift-giving times come around, it's great to have some ideas for lace projects to knit up fairly quickly, with a skein you may well have in your stash.
