I should have stopped reading this book halfway through. I kept expecting it to get better, but it didn’t. There’s no plot, every character is one-dimensional, and the book is poorly written. The characters rarely use contractions, making all the dialogue seem stilted, unrealistic, and downright grating.

BORING. Nothing ever really happens.

One of the worst books I have ever read! The writing is seriously awful!!!

Fun summer read. Details a girl's 1st year at Harvard, with emphasis on social life and trying to fit in. I don't think it's a totally realistic picture of academia there, but the incidents seems like a smattering of several people's college social experiences. Good to read if you just want something fun.

Penelope O’Shaunessy is not your average Harvard freshman. She seems to lack ambition and direction. She definitely lacks a clue. She is, quite simply, the most socially awkward heroine I’ve ever encountered. And that’s why readers cannot help but to love her!

Penelope has a tough year ahead of her with her roommates (one social climber, one anti-social creep), her kooky classes (“Counting People” and “Dinosaurs”), her theater experience (Caligula, if you can imagine), and her crush, Gustav, who is most certainly descended from Nazis.

Quirky, fresh, and laugh-out-loud funny, this is a great fish-out-of-water novel. Put it on your list of school supplies!
