A good start to a comic run. It's fun and humorous with good art. I find Bendis to be one of the better Marvel writers out there (really enjoyed his Ultimate Spiderman). Yeah, Ironman's in it. I don't know if he adds much to the story, but he doesn't take away from it. A good read for Guardians fans and a nice start for casual fans.

I have read lots of Bendis's work for Marvel, but this has to be one of his best comics yet. I had not known much about guardians of the galaxy before reading this, so it was a pleasure reading this. I love Rocket and Groot!

I'll be the first to confess that I saw the Guardians film prior to reading this, so my expectations were certainly skewed, but apart from the heroically great artwork I found neither the story nor the characters had much to recommend them- just a whole bunch of stuff happening, and hey! there's Tony Stark! except he doesn't do a whole lot.
Bottom line: if you liked the movie, or want to know whether or not you'll like the movie, check this out. Or, you know, watch the movie.

Sets up up the backstory for Peter Quill but not much in terms of a plot. I think the next set of comics will do that.

As someone who had no prior experience with Guardians, I found it a fun romp and into to who they are. Loved rocket raccoon's "murdered you" battle cry.

Not sure what the big deal about this is. That being said it looks like they might have hit the right tone with making the movie a semi comedy.

If anything, this kick off to the series proves to be even more obnoxious than Bendis' work on the Avengers books, or the two titles he has taken on in the X-Men titles. He disregards seemingly everything done by a far better creative team that handled these characters before- aside from using a configuration of the team based on their group. He writes each and every one of the characters completely out of character, devoid of personality, and true to form, just uses them to parrot his own obnoxious, irritating, grating personality. Why this man continues to get writing assignments from Marvel is beyond me. The worst writer in the industry today winds up getting yet another title to mangle.
