This was the first Anne Rice book I read on the suggestion of a fellow reader. I told her I was not interested in vampires so this is what she recommended. I was so impressed by this book that I went on to read everything else by Ms Rice, vampires and all.

A very unique story with excellent artwork. If you enjoy fantasy with a mix of myth, religion, history and a hint of the macabre, I think this is for you.

A very near second best for Rice, in my view anyway. I haven't read them all yet but i have to say I think The Witching Hour takes the top spot for me :-) This novel is a truly unique story thats beautifully told, really makes you think about what may be after life on earth for our souls...if we indeed have souls :-)
