Starting in 1967 and continuing for 11 straight years, The Carol Burnett Show was the ultimate variety show-with music, acting, larger-than-life guest stars, and, of course, comedy: sketches, jokes and parodies that are as funny now as they were when you first saw them! Featuring one of the most hilarious cast ensembles, the show starred the talented Carol Burnett, plus Vicki Lawrence, Tim Conway, Harvey Korman and Lyle Waggoner, the perfect team for unscripted break-up moments and even more impromptu comedy. This ultimate comedic group produced one of the greatest shows ever on television-it's legendary! Now you can watch three complete episodes (1007, 1002, 1121) of The Carol Burnett Show on Carol's Favorites. These episodes feature special guest stars Roddy McDowall, Dinah Shore, Steve Martin and Betty White. Some of the memorable skits include "Mrs. Wiggins and Mr. Tudball," "The Oldest Man," "As the Stomach Turns: Close Encounters" and the famous "Went with the Wind" spoof of Gone with the Wind. Relive the classic moments of this beloved TV show, with three complete, uncut episodes just as they originally aired on television!

A good taste of the sparkling brilliance that was the "Carol Burnett Show" but when all is said and done a taste is really all there is; the entire 1967-78 series was never preserved. Instead we have compilations sets like this one that offer a scant few full episodes per disc plus an assortment of skits and guest appearances that have been cobbled together.

Still, it's nice to have this great variety series back in whatever form, especially with the many restored musical numbers that have been deleted from the syndicated 30 minute "Carol Burnett and Friends." Burnett and the gang--with Harvey Korman, television's greatest second banana ever, first among equals--are as hilarious as you remember, especially in impromptu moments when something goes awry or Tim Conway wickedly adlibs.

The classic "Went With the Wind" send-up is here, though for my money the all-time funniest of CB's Hollywood spoofs remains "Mildred Fierce," a smart and zany takeoff on the Joan Crawford 1945 melodrama "Mildred Pierce." Burnett is spot-on in her Crawford impersonation, Vicki Lawrence as the irredeemably spoiled and spiteful Vida steals every scene she's in, and Korman is inspired as the snide Monty Slick, Mildred's faithless husband.
