(Book 17 in the Eve Duncan series)

Please, shoot me if I try to read another of these awful books!

This stupid trilogy could easily have been done in one bad book, instead of stretching it out.

If she'd keep all the macho crap out, and not have every single flippin' conversation one tough dude threatening every other, the story would fly by in no time.

This book was truly awful/

I gave this book one star only because I can't rate it a zero. I have read most of Iris Johansen's books and enjoyed watching how the characters developed. But the last 10 or so books have continued to decline in quality to point that they have become unreadable. The funny or quirky use of words to describe how lips look: twisted, crooked, moistened and tightened, just to name a few should have sent up wierd signals. Then there is the use of the adjectives and adverbs to describe how a person says something: grimly, viciously, impatiently, gently, quietly, sardonically, silkily, softly, solemnly, ruefully, sourly, thoughtfully, wearily, deparately, maliciously, urgently, harshly raggedly, dryly, wearily, sarcastically, slyly, shyly, dryly, surly, curtly, crisply, and sourly. Is this a joke? Are we supposed to take this seriously? I am pretty sure this is not a complete list. Then again, the writing was so bad, I pretty much started to skim over the pages quickly by page 300 and then went to every other page. The story did not change. I wish I had used this technique earlier in the book and not wasted to much time. Better yet, I wish I had not wasted any time at all reading this book. If this is what we have to look foward to with Iris Johansen, then there is nothing left to look foward to. This is by far some of the silliest, most boring inane writing I have ever experienced and will not ever read this author again. Truely awful.

Ditto to the "nonamegirl" but I still have a hold on the next book!

this book was very predictable. I feel that the author is stretching out the story just to be able to have another book to publish!
