I'm your baby owl. You don't need a new one. Little Owl isn't pleased to hear that there's a baby owl in the egg Mummy has laid. So Mummy pretends it might be a baby penguin ... or crocodile ... or elephant. In the fun of imagining different kinds of siblings, Little Owl realises that a baby owl might just be the best thing of all.

A gentle, lovely story about the arrival of a new sibling, addressing fears that Mummy's love will stop. Debi Gliori is a bestselling, award-winning author – writing for the first time for another illustrator: the talented Alison Brown.

Despite not being expecting my family adored this story. Reluctant child learns, with Mama's help, that welcoming someone new into the family can be a good thing after all. It explores though the child's ideas and fears what's to come. It's not the parent making a futile effort to get the child to see from their eyes that having another baby is a good thing. We're brought to the child's perspective, and that's what makes this an amazing book in my view.

Little Owl isn't sure he wants a new baby owl so he and his mommy decide to think about all the things that could inside of the egg instead. Predictably, little owl comes around to the idea of a new sibling. Cute, but not earth shaking, will fit the bill for parents prepping little ones for a new arrival.
