Now a TV series on the Syfy channel airing Mondays at 10 pm / 9 pm CT. "Frisky...Tells a rather sweet love story, and suggests that being a wolf may be more comfortable for a strong, smart woman than being human." -The New York Times Book Review Elena Michaels seems like the typically strong and sexy modern woman, She lives with her architect boyfriend, writes for a popular newspaper, and works out at the gym. She's also a werewolf. Elena has done all she can to assimilate to the human world, but the man whose bite changed her existence forever, and his legacy, continue to haunt her. Thrown into a desperate war for survival that tests her allegiance to a secret clan of werewolves, Elena must recon with who, and what, she is in this passionate, page-turning novel that begins the Women of the Otherworld series.

My absolute favorite series and this is the first installment. It is not like the TV show, it's better. So if you tried the show, don't give up on the book. The characters are amazing and the style of this series is the best. You're in the same world but you get to know characters from all over the country and walks of life!

While I started out moderately disliking Elena, by the end of the book I loathed her. I never liked Clay, who really does read as a psychopath, as Elena calls him in the book - normally, I hate it when people use mental health terms in casual ways, but in this case it is an apt description. Finally, the sex scenes were all very rapey, and really actual rape because, you know, NO no one is able to give consent while ASLEEP! Seriously, I cannot believe that I have to say that. I cannot believe people think that sexual assault is romantic.

UGH! I will read no more books in this series or by this author. I regret having gotten through this book (OK, with a great deal of skimming). Now, I must go and do a cleanse. UGH! UGH! UGH! UGH! UGH!

This book started my passion for paranormal fiction and kept me engaged with The Otherworld series. Bitten perfectly captures Elena's struggle of being the only female werewolf in a male dominated society, coming to terms with her transformation, while attempting to live a life of normalcy outside of the pack. Through it all, Elena must face her personal demons when she is summoned by the Alpha to hunt down a group of serial killers that have been transformed into werewolves, and who threaten to expose the existence of the supernatural.

Bitten is a 436 page book, by Kelley Armstrong. I rate this book 4 stars. Overall it was a very fun read, and I enjoyed reading it. Our main character is Elena Michaels, the only female werewolf. After being bitten, she takes years to adjust to her new lifestyle, but ends up leaving her new pact and moves to Toronto, ON (Love how this is somewhat based in Ontario!!) Anyways, after years of no contact with her old pact, she receives an emergency call from the leader. She eventually relents and returns to her old land hoping to finally be done with the pact. After arrival she encounters old friends and new enemies. Although Elena was a great, strong lead, I often found myself annoyed with her and her tendencies (not going to spoil anything)… The other characters were also the same, but I LOVED Clay!! One thing that did truly annoy be though is Philip (her Toronto boyfriend). Honestly Elaina totally forgot about him… He deserved better. Kelley Armstrong once again gives us her amazing descriptive and insightful writings and I never found myself bored. After reading the first book, I found myself intrigued with the series and wanting more. In the future I plan to read the next books in the series and eventually the show (All seasons available at the library). Overall a good read!!

I borrowed this book as a part of the library's "blind date with a book" promotion. I admit it is a book I would have never chosen if it hadn't been in wrapping paper. I found myself thoroughly entertained and pleasantly surprised.

Gotta love Armstrong's voice and let's-get-sucked-into-this writing.

Though I liked this book, I didn't feel this book was very distinct from others of it's genre, and there were many character deaths in which i found myself questioning how the character had been connected with the main character. That said, I did like how the love story played out in the end, though it might have been more seamless.

I love this series. The characters develop, the story lines don't stall...a perfect read by the fire.

" I am cursed to live between worlds. On the one side there is normalcy. On the other, there is a place where I can be what I am with no fear of reprisals, where I can commit murder itself and scarcely raise the eyebrows of those around me, where I am even encouraged to do so to protect the sanctity of that world. But I left and I can't return. I won't return."-Elena's conflicted thoughts on being a werewolf

Elena Michaels is the world's only female werewolf. And she's tired of it. Tired of a life spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts the worst in her— her temper, her violence—but requires it. Worst of all, she realizes she's growing content with that life, with being that person.
So she left the Pack and returned to Toronto where she's trying to live as a human. When the Pack leader calls asking for her help fighting a sudden uprising, she only agrees because she owes him. Once this is over, she'll be squared with the Pack and free to live life as a human. Which is what she wants. Really.
