Bought book 2017.

Mark Bittman is a cooking samurai. This book completely changed the way I cook and think about food. Bittman has a way of explaining the process and the possible variations that makes cooking a limitless science. I love all of the author's cookbooks, but this one holds a special place in my heart because it transformed my life. Unfortunately, all non-Bittman cookbooks now disappoint me.

This was surprising. I thought it was what the title says: basic cooking. Not at all. Yes it covers very well the basic techniques with great illustrations, but then it goes on to give really interesting and great tasting recipes. For example it will give the basic "blueprint" on how to buy amd cook grains. and then will give wonderful recipes and variations for every grain on the market. I am going to buy this for my young niece as a present.
