Magnus Chase, son of Frey, the god of summer and health, isn't naturally inclined toward being a brave warrior. Still, with the help of his motley group of friends, he has achieved deeds he never would have thought possible. Now he faces his most dangerous trial yet. Loki is free from his chains. He's readying Naglfar, the Ship of the Dead, complete with a host of giants and zombies, to sail against the Asgardian gods and begin the final battle of Ragnarok. It's up to Magnus and his friends to stop him, but to do so they will have to sail across the oceans of Midgard, Jotunheim, and Niflheim in a desperate race to reach Naglfar before it's ready to sail. Along the way, they will face angry sea gods, hostile giants, and an evil fire-breathing dragon. But Magnus's biggest challenge will be facing his own inner demons. Does he have what it takes to outwit the wily trickster god?

I love all of Rick Riordan's books and I've read almost all of his books and my faveroite character of all time is Percy Jackson.

Ever since I started reading this specific series, I've been enjoying it. Honestly my favorite book from the series was The Sword of Summer and the second one was okay I guess. (Not as exciting) But this recent book was alright but I was expecting it to be as great as the first one. 👌I really like Alex Fierro.... She's weird in a sort of way but she has a great personality tbh👊🌟

I agree with Gwen904 and Prettypaws. I really wish Riordan wouldn't put all the stupid stuff about Islam and transgenderism in his books. It makes my opinion of him (which wasn't super high in the first place) decrease significantly. I also don't understand why everyone is raving about all Riordan's books and how great they are. Yeah, I get it already. They aren't that great, honestly. They have a lot of editing errors and anticlamactic endings and annoying characters. I have to admit, though, that I liked the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the Heroes of Olympus series. But Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard? Nope. Not at all. It's too silly and fluffy for me. The jokes that were meant to be funny were not funny at all. They were just plain stupid. The Kane Chronicles were so-so. The Trials of Apollo were pretty good, but not the best they could've been.

Unfortunately, this book had very irritating references to transgenderism, Islam, and homosexuality. I really dislike it when authors put their own political ideas into their books (especially a children's book).
'The Ship of the Dead' was better than the rest of the trilogy and I would have rated it higher if it didn't have the stuff mentioned above.

good book

I love the whole series!!! But this is the BEST. My favourite charactor is Alex, although she's kinda strange.
Praise Rick RIORDAN!

this book is hilariously funny and in my opinion is the best Magnus Chase book ever. Although this book is amazing, I like the Percy Jackson ones better.

Follow Magnus Chase and his friends as they go on a journey across the nine worlds to stop the end of the world. This humor and action story brings Norse Mythology to life, again.

Three days is a long time to sail with an evil walnut.
After the water horses dumped us - 'They got bored,' Sam explained, which was far better than them drowning us - I summoned the Big Banana and we all climbed aboard. Heathstone managed to invoke the fire rune kenaz, which saved us all from freezing to death. We sailed west, trusting our magic ship to take us where wre needed to go.
