It's too bad that Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan thought it was a great idea to fund, arm, and train the Islamic extremists in Afghanistan and and Pakistan that later morphed into the Taliban and al Qaeda. Militant Islamic extremism is not a good thing. Likewise, the militant Christian extremism of Brigitte Gabriel and her shadow mentor Pat Robertson is not a good thing.

There's nothing quite like living through a horific experience. Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. She lived it and luckily was eventually to survive and escape. Brigitte recounts how she and her parents lived for a long time in an underground bomb shelter. No running water or electricity, little food. Have you ever had to boil grass to survive?" She is trying to wake us up so we realize we are threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was. It will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries and especially us. Gabriel helps us understand the ways and thinking of the Middle East and stop underestimating the single-mindedness with which fundamentalist Islam has pursued its goals over the past thirty years. Read this, weep, and do all you can to keep this from happening to us.

This book could do with additional editing to remove repetitious statements. The first part of this book, written shortly after 7/11, describes the author's teen experiences of living in Southern Lebanon during the civil war in 70's and 80's. Even after 25 years, the author, from these experiences, has a deep fear of anything Islamic. Having lived in both Arabic and Western cultures, the author truly treasures the freedoms she has in a Western country. She is writing this book to warn/inform the Americans of the agenda of the Islamic religion. She includes watch lists and to-do lists to help ordinary American citizens become aware of this potential threat to our way of life. An eye-opening book.
