President Charlotte Kramer, the nation's first female president, returns for her second term after re-election and Tara Meyers is now Vice President of the United States. For Tara, making the transition from the New York Attorney General's office to working on the national level by President Kramer's side creates issues that blur the line between personal and professional. After botching a live television interview that gets everyone in D.C. clamoring for her resignation, she attempts to redeem herself by wading headlong into a sensational terror investigation. Unfortunately, Tara's leading role in the case puts her in the crosshairs of an edgy public with questions about the White House's role in the plot--and what the administration did or didn't do to keep the country clear from danger.

I found this follow-up to Wallace's excellent Eighteen Acres to be a real disappointment - disjointed plot lines, focus on new one--dimensional character, insensitive treatment of mental health issues. I'm starting the 3rd volume in the trilogy, Madam President, now - I hope it'll be more like the 1st volume than the 2nd!

The second book in Nicolle Wallace's trilogy about a government run by women.

Charlotte Kramer gets re-elected with a substantial boost from her Democrat running mate Tara Meyers, who had been NY's attorney general. Her chief-of-staff, Melanie Kingston, detests the new VP and quits on election night. Charlotte lures her back to become Secretary of Defense. Dale Smith is offered a job of communications director for the VP. who has serious mental health issues.

The author has said the premise was inspired by her experience as a Senior Adviser to the McCain/Palin campaign. She's also dished on her MSNBC show that handling Sarah Palin was challenging.

It's Classified sets the stage for the final book in the trilogy, Madam President.
